Coming to an end in April 2025, the ERIGrid 2.0 project hosted its Final Event titled “Leveraging Research Infrastructure for Smart Energy Systems – Lessons Learned and Key Results of ERIGrid 2.0”.

This event was dedicated to presenting the outcomes of five years of work towards leveraging research infrastructure for smart energy systems. The project consortium showcased the ERIGrid 2.0 validation scenarios, test cases, and other significant achievements on April 1, 2025. ERIGrid 2.0’s free access to Europe’s leading laboratories (Lab Access) was also highlighted, with successful users presenting their innovative solutions tested at the labs of ERIGrid partners. The second part of the event, the second user workshop provided the opportunity for six selected user groups (out of more than 100 realised access projects) to present their results and findings from the laboratory access program.

The following presentations were provided:

Session “Opening, Welcome, and Overview”

  • Opening and welcome
  • Overview of ERIGrid 2.0 activities

Session “Results, Achievements, and Impact”

  • Validation Scenarios, Test Cases, and Test Profiles
  • Extended Co-Simulation Approaches
  • Improved Real-Time Simulation and HIL-based Testing
  • Research Infrastructure Integration and Automation
  • Experiences with Smart System Integration and Validation
  • Education and Training Methods and Tools

Session “Facilitating Effective Laboratory Testing by Lab Users (2nd User Workshop)”

  • Overview and Achievements of the ERIGrid Access Program
  • Lab Access Project presentations (1-6), see also related proceedings

Session “Future Research Infrastructure Needs and Closing”

  • Panel discussions on future RD&I needs for Research Infrastructures
  • Event wrap-up and closing
